Hello friends! We haven’t updated you in a while so we wanted to make sure you knew what the Gravy Train was up to.
It’s been a busy few months for B&G – we’ve played shows in five states, rocked the stage with Wu-Tang legends and Nas affiliates, shared Hello Weekend with thousands, and started writing new material. We can’t wait to share it with you at a slew of upcoming shows in YOUR area. Check out some future events below and if you haven’t grabbed the record yet (seriously!?), head over to iTunes.
ATTENTION NEW YORK – Because we love our New York City family so much, we’re heading back to Sullivan Hall on Saturday, April 6th to treat your ears to some new tunes and some classic B&G material. Y’all know Sullivan Hall is our second home and since it’s been a while, we’re bringing some heavy-hitters with us. Our good friends Urban Sun will drop a dose of their funkiest jams on the evening and our new friends Nickel & Dime OPS are hip-hop prodigies not to be missed.
ATTENTION BOSTON – As Serenade dictates, we’re getting our chirp up and delivering a huge spring kickoff at the Hard Rock Café on Friday, April 19th. We’re going all out to welcome in our favorite season so call your Mom, call your Dad, call your ex-girlfriend and that weird kid you used to hang with in high school – no one should miss this show. Tickets are available in advance and we highly recommend you grab one or five before they sell out. Head over to our tour page to lock yours down today.
ATTENTION COLLEGE STUDENTS EVERYWHERE – We are thrilled to announce that we’ve joined the team over at The College Agency and yes, the name explains it all. Some of our best tour experiences have been Gravy Train stops at area colleges so it’s only fitting that we start rocking campuses all across the northeast. We’ll post dates as we lock them in but expect us in your area real soon. Want to see B&G at your school? All you have to do is ask! Head over to our contacts page and drop us a line – we’ll be there.
This is going to be a huge spring for us and we couldn’t be happier to share it with all of you. So get dust off your dancing shoes, grab your friends and get ready for the get-down. We’ll see you all very soon.
During the Hello Weekend recording sessions, there was one song we recorded that didn’t end up making it onto the album. However, because we love you all so much, we’ve decided to release it so you can get your daily dose of funk in. Here is Castle Wall: http://biscuitsandgravymusic.bandcamp.com/album/castle-wall
Next Friday, October 26th, we will be performing at the Middle East Downstairs for the annual Halloween Hangover weekend put on by HearNow Live. This is the 2nd year in a row for us and the 7th annual Halloween run for HNL. Make sure to head over to our tour page and order your tickets today before it’s sold out! And remember, Halloween show means costume party so come dressed in your most ridiculous outfits.
Sorry it’s been so long since we’ve updated you all, it’s been quite a busy summer since we released “Hello Weekend.” First and foremost, thanks to everyone who has helped support the release of the record and a huge thanks to all who came out and made the Boston & New York City CD release parties such a great success!
We’re planning a ton of shows for you all this fall and trying to reach out to some cities that we love but haven’t played before. We’ll be adding dates throughout the next couple of months so make sure you keep an eye on our tour page! For now, our Fall lineup is:

Acton, ME – Sept. 14th

“Hello Weekend. I wasn’t sure if I would make it here…”
Thankfully, we have. What began in 2009 as a jam session in a Roxbury basement is finally coming to fruition. It’s been a long time coming but tonight, the Biscuits & Gravy crew is thrilled to announce that our debut LP, Hello Weekend, will be released next Friday, June 8th.
This product has taken us more than two years to complete and it is a testament to your patience that you are reading this right now. But for that, we thank you. Just know that this was not an album delayed by laziness, but rather by a concerted effort towards producing the best possible product.
As you listen through Hello Weekend, it will be apparent that this album was written and recorded in our early twenties. While much of our free time was spent working on this project, each of us struggled to balance work and school with our social lives and musical ambitions. B&G’s collective resume now includes several real estate agents, a few music teachers, a construction worker, a piano tuner, and even a vacuum salesman. Let’s just say it’s been an interesting road. You’ll hear the highs and lows of our chaotic lives and occupations in this record but you’ll also hear all the heart and drive that led us to launch this project. If your experience in young life has been one of hard work, sacrifice, success, failure, fun, laughter and love, then you’ll find you’re right at home with this record. If you like to groove, that won’t hurt either.
We have labored over harmonies and snare hits, stayed up late debating song forms and solos, and analyzed each track with meticulous focus. It has been a long time in the works but trust us, it is worth the wait. We think you’ll agree that the result is something fresh, vivid and oddly familiar. As one blogger noted of our first single Serenade, “This is real music kids, expect great things.” We hope you do.
To tide you over until the 8th, we’re releasing our second single, (Girl Are You A) Freak tonight. If you have ever caught someone’s eye across the dance floor, then you’ll find yourself more than familiar with this track. As one of the first songs we wrote together as a band, it’s only appropriate that we release it alongside our debut release date. (Girl Are You A) Freak is available for free download on our BandCamp page along with our first single, Serenade.
Thank you all for joining us on this journey. We couldn’t have done it without you.
But remember, it only starts here. Welcome to the weekend.
Sam, Dave, Evan, Ghost, Mark, Eric & Paul
We wanted to give you a quick update on everything Biscuits & Gravy. It may be early, but we’re getting busy this Spring already. We’ve recently played some amazing shows in Boston and New York – Thanks to all the fans who joined us at the Middle East and at Sullivan Hall!! We had a blast and we can’t wait to do it again… Which is why we’ve booked another huge show in just TWO WEEKS. On Saturday, April 14th, we’ll be joined by our friends Love in Stockholm and Cosmodrome as we break musical ground at the Davis Square Theater in Somerville! We know this is going to be an incredible show so we’ve got some pre-sale tickets for those of you that don’t want to miss out. They’re just $12 so to grab yours and guarantee you get in, just email email@example.com or contact any B&G member. We can’t wait to see you out there!
In addition to our Spring shows, we’ve also entered the College Battle contest and we need your help!! This contest puts band against band in an online contest to earn a tour spot with Live Nation and free recording time with an amazing set of producers and engineers that have worked with U2, Adele and more… The contest winners are determined by number of plays and by rating, so keep listening to our tunes and rate us a 5 at http://www.collegebattleofthebands.com/Biscuits__Gravy/. With your help, we can take the gravy train to the next level with a national tour!
AND, since we know you’ve all been waiting to hear our debut album, we’ve been working hard to put on the finishing touches. Expect to hear a new single soon and a whole new album in the near future! We’ll be sure to let you know about the album release and all that will follow for B&G, so stay tuned. We can’t wait to share all our hard work with you.
Thanks for all your support and here’s to a bright future! We love you all,
Biscuits goes international!! With “Hello Weekend” coming closer to fruition everyday, we’ve done a couple of interviews to prepare for the release. The first of these was just posted by Graziella Buontempo all the way from Paris! Graziella is more than an excellent writer, she’s a music and art connoisseur. We feel pretty lucky to be featured on her site… Plus, she says lots of nice things about us:
“My first encounter with Biscuits & Gravy was like traveling back in time to a Beatles or Rolling Stones concert, with swarms of groupies screaming and immolating their bodies to the rising gods of rock ‘n roll. This young, diversely vibrant group of seven from Boston blends into a sole volcanic ensemble on stage, bringing together a shared passion for music, groovy, deliciously funky tunes and a dazzling, galvanizing energy. Playing with multiple instruments ranging from bass to alto sax, and with enticing, warm vocals, Biscuits & Gravy are able to set on fire any crowd . With an upcoming album (“Hello Weekend”) in the making, this high-powered, explosive group ignites the East coast scene and is getting ready to conquer it all.”
You can check out the whole interview on her site GRAZIELLABUONTEMPO.COM. Stay tuned to BiscuitsAndGravyMusic.com for more updates on our spring endeavors and make sure to check out our UPCOMING SHOWS page to catch a show near you.
“Spring is coming fast, I better get my chirp up…”
January was awesome. That pretty much sums it up. After rocking Gillette Stadium on New Years Day, we kept on rolling. A HUGE Saturday night at Sullivan Hall in NYC kept the energy up and a new experience this past weekend at Middlebury College in Vermont proved to be a great time. As we turn the corner into February, the question arises: How will the Gravy Train keep up all this momentum going into the Spring? The answer is simple: Play a bunch of shows.
With our debut album “Hello Weekend” on the way, we’ve lined up a set of big shows in a variety of locations. We have Boston shows for you in March, April and May but first, we’re starting things tonight in Manchester, New Hampshire. At 9pm this evening, B&G hits at The Shaskeen with several sets of original and cover music to help you dance the night away. If you’re in the area, come check us out!!
In just over a month, we hit the first of three Boston shows with our good friends Cosmodrome on March 10th at The Middle East Upstairs. Whenever we get together with these guys, it’s a guaranteed good time – don’t miss out. Next, it’s back to our home away from home: Sullivan Hall. After a massive show a couple of weeks ago, we’re expecting a HUGE turnout for our next Sullivan show on Friday, March 23rd. Things should be thawing out by then and there isn’t much better than NYC in the spring time. We’ll see you there.
Once we’re back home, we’ll be pioneering new ground in Boston music as we perform at the grand opening of the Davis Square Theater in Somerville on April 14th. We’re excited to show our classiest side in this historic venue. Finally, we’ll close out our Spring push with a guaranteed get-down at Church on May 25th.
That’s all we have lined up for now but it’s looking like it’s going to be a good Spring. To stay up to date on where we’re playing, stay tuned to our shows page and, of course, follow us on Twitter and Facebook!!
We’ll see you out there!
It’s been a very exciting start to 2012 for B&G already!
On New Years Day, we were fortunate enough to play the pre-game show for the final Patriots game of the season at Gillette Stadium. Needless to say, it was awesome. With a sea of Pats fans below us, we got down on a bunch of Biscuits favorites and threw in a few covers for good measure. Right before our set, we got to spend a little time on the field in an empty Gillette Stadium. It was surreal. Thanks to all the fans that stuck around to watch the show and to the incredible staff that helped us out. Special thanks to the Patriots for winning… but hey, that’s what they do.
This past weekend, we performed at Sullivan Hall in NYC, which is by far one of my favorite venues. The vibe was right and the energy was way up (local favorites Yellowcake hyped up the crowd before us) and the night kept going after us with an incredible set by Urban Sun (everyone make sure to check those guys out). It was one of the best times we’ve had yet in our second home, the Empire State. After some late night wandering through the action-filled streets of the Big Apple, we trekked back to Boston, tired but victorious. Don’t worry New Yorkers, we’ll be back as soon as we can.
This Friday, we’re keeping this gravy train rollin’ as we make our next stop at Middlebury College in Vermont. Then, it’s off to New Hampshire next Thursday. For any of our fans in the Vermont or New Hampshire areas, please come out and say hey!! If you hit us up before, we’ll get you all the info so you can see how B&G throws down college-style.
See you on the dance floor,
